Earthwalk Northwest courses are taught at a variety of sites offering a diversity of natural beauty and experience.

Note: You will receive specific travel information prior to your course. The locations described below are leased for the duration of the programs only. We ask that you please be respectful of each family’s privacy by arriving only during your scheduled course.

Issaquah, WA

Our day programs are run from our Issaquah site located an easy 15 minutes east of Seattle. A formal classroom provides the meeting area for instruction while workshops are held either outside in the cedar and fir forest or in the spacious kitchen. Numerous handmade baskets, herbal soaps and salves, tanned buckskin clothing, and stone tools complete the classroom décor and lend inspiration to class participants.

Shelton, WA

We are grateful to the Remmen family for generously offering this site located just north of Shelton, WA. This location boasts a wonderful blend of wilderness with accessibility. Program lectures are held in a rustic classroom, while workshops occur outside in a small nearby clearing. Student tenting sites are nestled just beyond the clearing among the cedar grove. Trails in the back section of the property wind through cedar forests and across salmon streams, taking you past stands of delicious seasonal huckleberries.

San Juan Islands, WA

The pristine San Juan Islands of Washington State play host to the Seaweeds and Coastal Foraging course. Lopez Island is the first stop on the San Juan Island run, departing from Anacortes, WA. Once on Lopez, a 30 minute drive takes you past tidy hay fields and scenic beaches before arriving at the southern end of the island and class site. Just minutes away from MacKaye Harbor and Agate Beach, local foraging is abundant. Class participants can tent in an open field with views of Puget Sound and San Juan Island. An outdoor classroom is set up to fully enjoy the beauty of this location. While facilities are sparse with portable toilets and trucked in water, they are soon overlooked as we bask in the beauty of the islands learning about the bounty of the sea.

Seattle, WA

Nestled in Old Ballard, Dandelion Botanical Company (5424 Ballard Ave. NW, Seattle, WA 98107) has generously offered classroom space to hold some day programs. In addition to Dandelion Botanical Company, there are many wonderful shops to explore in this area.

Other Unique Locations

From time to time we also offer classes at other unique locations including a log cabin near Crystal Mountain, WA, Whidbey Island in the Puget Sound, or in the volcanic hills of Glass Buttes, OR.
