cedar and sweatgrass button basket

In this class we use cedar and coastal sweetgrass to create a beautiful basket sized to hold salt and pepper shakers. A variety of weaving techniques are taught, including twilled plaiting, twining, and three-strand twining along with a diagonal folded border.  A row of abalone shell buttons will lend a Northwest flavor to your weaving, reminiscent of the traditional button baskets created in the Pacific Northwest. Your completed basket will measure about 2” long x 4” wide x 3” tall.

Salt and pepper shakers are included so that you may use your new basket to add to your table. Join us to explore the weaving techniques of the Northwest Coast First Peoples.
