Birch Bark Cylindrical Box

Birch bark has been used for centuries to create strong, beautiful and waterproof containers. Join us to continue this tradition in birch as we create these beautiful little boxes to hold those small objects that always seem to get lost. Some of our birch boxes hold matches for camping trips, sewing needles, and one is even our favorite salt cellar. In class, students will also learn and make pitch glue, using it to secure the layers of bark. Finally, cedar plugs will be carved for the base and lid.
