Backyard blacksmithing and knife making
Make your own custom knife, leather sheath and fire striker in the information-packed weekend. Instructor Howard Schwartz shares his vast knowledge of the skills of the blacksmith as he teaches Basic Forge construction, the precision of Heat Treating Metals and the basic tools of the Backyard Blacksmith. He also emphasizes using inexpensive recycled metals found at junk yards and garage sales.
Students make their own personal knife from a file, using antler for the handle. Then a custom-made leather sheath is fitted to your knife and sewn closed. For anyone wishing to learn the fine art of blacksmithing and custom knife work, this is a class not to miss.
Maximum class size of 12 to ensure completion of projects.
